In organizations like the Bluetooth SIG, collaboration is everything. I’m continually amazed at how our members work together to innovate, develop, test, solve problems and educate the world about Bluetooth technology and Bluetooth enabled products.
I’m especially proud of our organization’s latest work, the newly released Bluetooth Core Specification Version 3.0 + HS. After years of hard work, we’re going to start seeing the fruits of our labor as the first high speed enabled products hit the market by the end of this year.
This issue of SIGnature magazine takes a closer look at some of the many benefits of Bluetooth SIG membership. From our members-only Web site at Bluetooth.org, with its tools, training videos, news, updates and much more, to member discounts, testing programs and other resources, your Bluetooth SIG membership is valuable – to us and to your future in the wireless industry. Learn more by reading “Members Only” and “Passing the Test.”
The following pages also highlight the high speed specification and our next big goal: the completion of the Bluetooth low energy specification. Both accomplishments are set to transform how Bluetooth technology is used at work, at play and at home.
We’re excited about the release of the first Experience Icon related to V3.0 + HS. It illustrates high speed video transfer, which is likely to make the biggest initial splash with consumers. See "In the News" for that story and other news related to the Bluetooth SIG and our industry.
Our new “Spec Check” feature is designed to give you a concise update on the progress we have made and are making toward long- and short term goals for the current and upcoming specifications. Find out more about V3.0 + HS, and check out our progress on the low energy spec since the All Hands Meeting in Tokyo.
Specification development only takes the technology so far; it’s how people use the technology that makes it life-changing. These days, that means you can find Bluetooth technology just about anywhere, from the dinner table to the fitness center to the manufacturing plant floor. Bluetooth technology is where you need it, wherever you happen to be.
