BLUETOOTH SIG ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF 4TH ANNUAL BEST OF CES CONTEST
Bluetooth SIG
Manufacturers Provide Cutting Edge Ways for Consumers to Explore the Possibilities of Bluetooth® Wireless Technology

LAS VEGAS – Jan. 12, 2009 –
From its member party kicking off an explosive year for Bluetooth technology, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced the winners of its fourth annual Best of CES Contest, an event held during the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to highlight the hottest, most innovative and consumer friendly Bluetooth enabled products.

“While the industry is hard at work to bring two new versions of the technology to market in 2009, consumers can still explore the possibilities that exist today to expand their PAN – their very own personal area networks which, through the use of Bluetooth technology, give them the convenience we all crave in the products we all want,” said Michael Foley, Ph.D., executive director of the Bluetooth SIG.”The winners of our 4th annual contest are just those products, capturing the best of what Bluetooth technology brings to our lives.”

Fifty-four new Bluetooth products were submitted for the contest in six categories focusing on what consumers can do with the technology – talk on a headset, input information, listen to music, print data, transfer information, or enable use in an industrial or other vertical environment. The Bluetooth SIG carefully tested each product and judged them on a variety of criteria, including compliance with Bluetooth SIG qualification standards, ease-of-use, look and feel and overall usability of the product as expected by the average consumer.

Bonus points were given to products complying with Experience Icon requirements. The Experience Icons make it simple for consumers to understand what a Bluetooth enabled device can do and how it will work with other devices for file transfers, printing, listening to music, talking on a headset or inputting information. Manufacturers are encouraged to use the icons on packaging of certified Bluetooth enabled products. Consumers can simply match Experience Icons to ensure a seamless wireless experience.

About Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
Bluetooth wireless technology is the global short-range wireless standard for personal connectivity of a broad range of electronic devices. The technology continues to evolve, building on its inherent strengths – small-form factor radio, low power, low cost, built-in security, robustness, ease-of-use, and ad hoc networking abilities. More than nine new Bluetooth enabled products are qualified every working day and 18 million Bluetooth units are shipping per week. There are over two billion Bluetooth devices in the marketplace and that number climbs daily, making it the only proven wireless choice for developers, product manufacturers, and consumers worldwide.
